When the warriors came back with the Indian prisoners they began to bury their families that had been killed under the white mens' attack.
It was a lot of sorrow in the camp and Mary was afraid that the sorrow also could take her son away from her.
But the Black Fox made the way throw the sorrow, but instead with a lot of new anger in his body.
After the funeral the Indians began their first journey away from their old home, and on the way they saw a lot of signs from the war.
In one of the village they went throe there was a lot of died women and children everywhere.
Mary who was a powwaw felt really bad for them and wanted to look around if there maybe were someone alive.
In one of the house Mary found a boy, who was hurt.
She decided to take him with her on the journey, and after some days he woke up.
His name was Ephraim and he was 11 years old.
When the winter came the warriors' decided to go south to help their brothers in the war. Mary didn't want to follow them, because she had already seen too much died, and went instead on north with Ephraim.
After a while they found an Indian village were they met Sparks Fire who helped them to
find somewhere to live.
The winter went on to spring and Mary was really worried for her son who was in the war.
She knew that the Indians didn't have a chance to win the war against the white men, and she didn't know if her son was alive or not.
Marys heart won't heal before her son is back with her again, and for every day she's being weaker, and weaker.
War was making us into birds of carrion; scavenging among the destruction. (page 157.)
When Mary and the Indians were in the village that had belonged to the White men they were searching for food and warm clothes to take with them under their journey.
In the situation Mary felt ashamed, because she had never before stolen something from someone else, and that felt very bad. But she knew that they really had to do it if they should get the chance to survive the winter.

To improve:

To worry ...........(om)? her son
Under i betydelsen tid heter "during" och "under" betyder just under i rumslig mening(under bron=under the bridge) Är du med?
